Risk management

Risk management is "an organised effort to identify, evaluate and reduce, wherever possible, risks to patients, visitors and staff".

The main objectives of risk management are

• Toimprove the safety of people and property;
• Toreduce avoidable risks;
• Limit the seriousness of the consequences of unavoidable accidents.

Given the dispersed nature of the structures and players involved, the clinic has set up a coordination committee whose aim is to bring together the players, resources and actions in this area.

This coordination includes risk management and health vigilance management, and is also linked to the structures developing continuous quality improvement procedures.

Health monitoring

Health monitoring encompasses :

• Pharmacovigilance (monitoring the risk of side effects resulting from the use of medicines)
• Haemovigilance (monitoring and alerting from blood collection to the follow-up of transfused patients)
• Materiovigilance (monitoring incidents or risks of incidents that may result from the use of medical devices)
• Biovigilance (monitoring to ensure the safety of organs, tissues and cells of human or animal origin used for therapeutic purposes, from collection to follow-up of transplant patients).
