For the 6th year running, from 21 to 25 November 2016, the Ministry of Health is running Patient Safety Week (PSW). The aim of this campaign is to raise public awareness of the issues surrounding healthcare safety and to encourage dialogue between patients, users and healthcare professionals on these subjects.

This annual awareness campaign is part of the National Patient Safety Programme (PNSP), launched on 14 February 2013 by Marisol Touraine, the French Minister for Social Affairs and Health. The aim of the National Patient Safety Programme is to improve the safety of patient care and to promote a culture of safety among all healthcare professionals and users.

The general theme of the 2016 edition is adverse events associated with healthcare.
Any healthcare activity is a complex one, which cannot be devoid of risks for the patient. To better control these risks, the law on the modernisation of our healthcare system, adopted on 26 January 2016, strengthened the requirements for analysing adverse events. Regulatory mechanisms for reporting and analysing undesirable events and implementing corrective actions will soon be made available to healthcare professionals and users. All these tools, used as part of a constructive team approach to feedback and learning, will help to improve the safety and quality of care.

At national level, a conference entitled "Adverse events associated with healthcare: reporting, analysing, improving" will open Patient Safety Week 2016 on 14 November. As in previous years, a large number of events will be organised across the country, at the initiative of the ARS, healthcare institutions, healthcare professionals and users.

Once again this year, the Ministry and the Collectif Interassociatif sur la Santé (CISS) are partners in this awareness-raising campaign.

To mark the occasion, the Chantecler clinic is organising a stand on Tuesday 22 November 2016 from 9am in the establishment's lobby on the theme of "Undesirable Events Associated with Care".

Flyers, posters and other documents will be available.

We will also be welcoming the e-de training institute, which will be offering you the chance to try out the new non-drug medical device for patients, their families and professionals: e-psios glasses combining lumino&relaxotherapy. We look forward to seeing you there.
